Trip that turned out to be way longer than we anticipated. Slovenia is a small country but has so much to offer that we couldn't just leave.
First night in Bled on a park spot (10euro) just nwxt to the lake. Romantic dinner on a wooden plattform with candels, wine and very spicy curry. Bled was too touristy for us so we went to the nearby lake Bohinj. A short hike to the cerno jezero turned out to be a 5 hour walk. We were rewarded with a beutiful view of the lake that we coulndt enjoy for too long because of missing food and water.
Next stop was Kanal next to soča river. After a long and curvy drive through the slovenian mountains we arrived late at the guesthouse soča. We got a beautiful room (only disadvantage was the church right next to our window). Already prepairing for shower and sleep we got invited by Primož to join his girlfriend and uncle from mexico for a glass of local wine. Amazing conversation in english/slovenian.
Next morning we went to a local bakery for some amazing pastry and saw many bikers in town stopping for some food. We went with Primož and Anja (the hosts in our accommodation and amazing people) to Kobarid a little town north of Kanal, where we visited a great local restaurant set by Ana Roš, the most famous Slovenian cook. The food we got was made from local ingrediences and tasted amazing. It is also worth mentioning that it was very affordable. By affordable i mean Primož paid the bill, although we tried very hard to pay for our half and - since they were basically our local guides - we wanted to pay for their drinks as well.
Before lunch we went to Kozjak waterfall (Slap Kozjak) which turned out to be two waterfalls! After ten minutes of walking from the car we got to a really nice little pond with a nice waterfall filling it up. Luckily we had our guides with us who - after I was happily swimming under the falling water, thinking "that's it, i guess" - told us there is a bigger waterfall a bit further down the road. The second one was stunning. We had to wait a bit for a gap between people coming and going but we got our private time with the waterfall and it's magical.
Drive over Vršič pass - terrible camp in Bovec, scenic drive around Soča river with several stops, stunning views, russian chapel, lake, Zelini lake, great accommodation in Kranjska Gora.
